Hi there, Ujayi breath has many benefits. It extends and deepens the breath, makes breathing audible as a reminder to call continue, and regulates the breath. It is a balancing breath, so it both relaxes and energizes, which is a beautiful contradiction. Feel free the research it for more info.
One of the benefits of doing DYWM's challenges is finding classes like this. What a wonderful way to start the day! I will definite;y revisit this class as a warm-up or when I need a refresher on proper alignment. Thanks for everything you do to make yoga a wonderful experience for my home practice!
Excellent introduction to Vinyasa Flow. I’ve done Vinyasa studio classes, and feel I benefited from the slower pace of this class. Christa’s instructions were easy to follow when I couldn’t see my iPad screen.
I had never tried to keep up ujayi breath for an entire practice before, and it was enlightening. It adds a whole new level of concentration (difficulty?) to a practice. An easy flow to get back to basics.
I wish this class had been available many years ago when I began to try videos that weren't super basic or very slow (like the Yin yoga ones). It truly is a perfect transition from beginner to intermediate and a great way to start Vinyasa.
Crista always makes me smile! Although I am not a beginner, I enjoyed doing this practice with a beginner's mind as a reminder of the basics that some of us might take for granted. Thank you for the opportunity!
Enjoyable! At first I was hoping for another intermediate class and although this is not, it was a good reminder of the breath and details of the poses. I was able to challenge myself to stretch deeper and remind myself how far I've come in my yoga practice.
I almost skipped this because I thought I needed something with a little more oomph today. However, I am a stickler for “the plan” as it is written- so I did it and I am very glad I did. There was a meditative property to the first half that helped me settle in and down.
