Establishing Core Strength I
This class is meant to be a part of a series that you can see in our program Establish Your Core Stability and Strength and on our Yoga for Beginners page. After you have learned how to breathe and engage your core and stretch your body while your core is engaged, now David teaches you how to strengthen your core. Core strength will not only make you stronger and protect your spine, it will make you feel taller and lighter in your everyday life.

Thanks for this class, in fact all of these classes which have been a revelation to me! I joined and started doing your classes only a couple of months ago, after the odd intermittent yoga class over the years but nothing like regular practice. I've come to this programme after completing the Beginners 30 day yoga challenge - it took me 43 days but I did it! My problem is lower back pain which is why I thought I should do this programme next. Today's class was excellent but I still had lower back pain at the end. I think I'm turning on my core but still my lower back hurts. Do I just need more practice? I should say I'm 54 and injured my knee last year so am building up my leg strength but it's taking time
Really enjoyed this class. I have been trying to recover from a lingering hip injury from overuse through running. During the modified boat pose, my right leg has no problem elevating, but my left leg begins to shake and I cant hardly mobilize it upwards. Which muscle does this exercise train? Are there other workouts for this particular muscle? Thank you!
I've been out of action this past two weeks due to illness, so this was just what I needed to restart my practice. David has a way of teaching that provides the right pace to really understand how the body needs to be positioned when preparing to go into poses and how to maintain that alignment through the pose. In this class, it comes through in a short but intense 30 minute core strength class
Thank you David for another lovely and serene class. Wow, this was so challenging. I thought I was so limber and strong (oh such pride). I feel humbled and vow to repeat this class many times. A wonderful challenge to stay mindful during the more difficult segments.
