Hanuman Fun

Intermediate III

Hanuman pose is the forward-back splits. To achieve this advanced pose, Crista has designed an ingenious - and fun - flow that stretches the body in just the right way and at just the right pace to lead up to the depth of hanuman. It's a peak pose the deserves respect, and Crista honors it by addressing the muscles involved - the gluts, hamstrings, hip flexors and lower back - before moving into it for the first time. Get ready! You may just do the splits for the very first time!

This was awsome, very fun as the title says, even found myself laughing at my failure towards the end. Looking forward to getting better with this sequence !
Also, doing this post run, I found it to be a good leg stretch.
I expect to come back to this class a lot, I might just do the splits for the first time in a very long time !

Excellent sequence! Hanumanasana has always been difficult for me, so I probably wouldn't have chosen this class on my own (I did it as part of the Empower challenge). Although I still have to prop up my hips in full Hanuman, this class sneakily led me into feeling my most stable in hand-to-big-toe pose!

4/6/19 I am intimidated by hanumanasana, so this was a challenging practice, but totally do-able with Crista's cues and modifications. Even if hanumanasana is not accessible to you, this class helps to deeply open hips and hamstrings.

This practice had a soothing fluid flow. I have never tried transitioning from extended side plank to hanumanasna before and was surprised at how nicely it flowed together. A very fun practice! As always I enjoyed your smile and joyful energy. Namaste'

Fantastic, fun and masterful flow class with constant movement and a dancerly feel to open up the hips in ways I never knew possible, in order to work towards hanumanasana. Also some advanced versions of side plank, worked with creativity and invention. Crista is an amazing teacher and this class is so great. It works up a real sweat, there are some interesting challenges and it is amazingly playful.

I’m glad I warmed up with a short practice prior to this class. It jumps right into movement and balances. I had so much fun it felt like the time flew by! I almost wish it were a bit longer. I will certainly return to this practice as it is perfect for building strength, coordination and flexibility. Christa does a lovely job challenging, guiding, and encouraging along the way. I am especially thankful for the queues on alignment and stability. I really felt empowered and safe even in some very challenging sequences. Thank you for a bright and happy class!

Christa is certainly creative... and there were some good stretches toward the end of this class. Personally, I prefer a bit more warm up at the beginning of a class before diving into certain moves and balances. But overall, it was a pretty good class.

This wonderfully-flowing class was great for my very-tight hamstrings. The modifications helped me through the poses without hurting my knees. There are so many classes on DYWM that I try to not repeat, but this class will be part of my workout routine.
