It wasn't quite as strenuous as I expected from the description, but it was definitely different! It was fun to do a practice that wasn't like all the others.

Question on the opening sequence: With fingers interlaced and palms turned away from my body, my shoulders won't allow me raise my outstretched arms much above horizontal. Bending my elbows helps, but not enough to get my hands over my head. The overhead stretch and tilts to each side weren't accessible to me. What do you suggest I do for these sequences? Should I leave my palms facing my body (which allows me to get my arms overhead) instead of trying to turn them away, or should I do the sequences with palms facing away and my arms front of me rather than overhead?

Hi there -- yes, for sure, modify the poses to suit your body -- always! Things like interlaced fingers and arms straight overhead can be challenging in some bodies. I know in my own body that I have a cranky shoulder that finds these movements challenging on some days. Some options would be to simply not interlace your fingers and just have your palms facing each other, or for arms, to keep your elbows bent ("cactus arms"). Essentially you're looking to find an engagement and activation of the hands, arms and shoulders so doing this in whatever position suits you is the best way to go. There is no one "right way", have fun and make the practice your own!
All the best, Guy

Fierce, to the point and fantastic. I prefer “cultivating defense skills” to “weaponizing". And I really enjoy the way my body feels after this class. Maybe I am a warrior yogi?

Guy, Such a unique and different practice. I liked it and found it "fun" - expand my mind about yoga. Thank you.
Nice way to shake things up and for men, I can see this being a good practice. I will get my husband to try it.

As much as I like Guy's practices normally, I found it hard to understand his instructions. It also seemed like too much time was spent resting between sequences for this short of a practice.
