In this advanced pilates class Kathi uses breath and strong cues to attend to the subtle core and back body. Beginning more gently with a warm up, Kathi gradually progresses through a variety of challenging core-engaging postures that will leave you feeling well connected and energized.

lovely thanks
amazing- please more of that!
Kathi is an excellent instructor. Thank you!
really good class, easy to follow, amazed at my strength progression after taking other classes of her's
I've never taken a pilates type class before so wasn't sure what to expect. Kathi is so kind and funny and provided enough instruction so that an advanced yogi / pilates newbie was able to enjoy the core work and balance.
yowza! a challenging but good one!
all I can say is I survived the pilates challlenge
Much better the second time!!
Wow! First time! I’ll know the sequence better the next time I do this!
Thank you for this routine, I have been looking for a core workout with teaser. I will come back to this. Maybe in the future the full classical pilates mat workout?
Great core class, and I enjoyed the balance work too! I have done a few of Kathi's classes on here before but not for a while, this is definitely my favourite and I intend to return to it regularly, thank you!
Amazing, dynamic, well-paced
Thank you for including this in the yoga challenge! It was fast paced and I sometimes needed to watch & rewind, and some moves/poses were not accessible to me, but I enjoyed it and hope to return to it again. I also liked the neck stretches at the end. It makes me curious about other pilates classes on DYWM.
Finally a challenging core class on this site! I've never had to quite engage my deeper muscles or have the level of control required in some of these poses, so I look forward to practicing and improving. I'm not super familiar with Pilates, but I'm sure after a couple of tries the instructions will become more intuitive.
And shame on anyone who left a negative review on an individual class in the context of the yoga challenge. I guess people don't actually like to be challenged ;)
Disappointed to find an even more advanced Pilates class in this yoga challenge. I am sure that it is a good class/ instructor if you have some Pilates experience, but this is completely unsuitable for novices. I am finding this whole challenge very disjointed and inconsistent, which is a shame because I have enjoyed the progression of other challenges .
Thanks for the lovely strong practice Kathi! I've not done much Pilates and am coming back to yoga after a break so have enjoyed trying the new exercises and feeling the burn!
I wanted to find space for my body in this class, but was unsuccessful. It would be great to have an alternative for non advanced pilates folks for this day.
"if you want to make it harder..." LOLOL Kathi you are an ab master. you have kicked my middle. enjoyable yet impossible.
This class reminds me of a previous advanced pilates flow that I used to do and I like the different poses at the end of this class! Now I have two different versions to play with :) Thanks Kathi! greetings from The Netherlands.
Great class! Loved the neck stretches at the end.
I have put off doing this class having found the other Pilates class in the 22 day power up challenge pretty difficult.... I'm half glad I gave it a go - managed the abs section but ended up free styling with some yoga for the last part of the class. It is good to try something new and I may dip into the pilates classes - but - feel that this advanced class in the midst of a yoga challenge is a bit off putting. On a positive - I agree Kathi leggings are fab!
I appreciate everyone's comments here about difficulty and new poses and challenge, but I think we're missing the main point: Kathi's pants are AMAZING. (Also enjoyed the class.)
I really liked this class! I appreciated the progression from other classes as I was able to see –and choose– the move that made sense for my body. As someone whose fitness background is a medley of sports and disciplines, I found Kathi's class approachable. A few times I rewound the video to ensure I understood the cues, and once I did, was able to follow along and sometimes add an extra rep or two!
I agree with others in that I think the overall flow of the Power into 2022 Challenge seems wonky, but, I'm thankful the pilates classes are a part of the challenge. My view is that yoga alone is not enough for strength building and stabilization. Pilates is a great complement. I hope others don't get too scared and not try the class. Begin with a beginner and come back to the intermediate and advanced when ready!
Kathi makes this seem like fun even tho its hard work - totally enjoyable and I am also really glad Pilates is part of the Power Up 2022 challenge!
Thanks
Time really flew by with this fun and varied class, thank you!
Am a Pilates newbie and really enjoyed this challenging class! The beauty of the recorded videos is that it’s easy to watch a segment first, rewind, and then try. Very grateful that Pilates classes were included in this challenge!
I was originally intimidated because of some of the comments. This was different but a great core workout and I’m very glad I didn’t skip it. We’ll worth trying/doing!
A very inspiring class! I never tried pilates before and find it much more challenging than I thought. (I had already a hard time in the intermediate class :-)) I guess I wouldn´t have tried it without this challenge and I am thankful for new input, to try out new things.
I know the importance of a body balanced and a strong core. I admire how simple Kathi makes the core work, of course takes a lot of time and she is an inspiration. Thanks DYWM for this balanced challenge
Awesome, love your pilates classes, looking good Kathi!
As someone who has never tried pilates, it took a minute to get used to the moves, but I found it interesting and also fun towards the end of this final class. Thank you for helping us find something new to try and challenge ourselves with.
Left me kind of in the dust, but still intriguing. Inspired to get there sometime.
Good stuff Kathi! Thank you.
After viewing the video I determined that I would be better off doing the intermediate pilates class from last week. It made much more sense for my abilities. Hopefully as I do more pilates I will be able to attempt the advanced class.
Again, wish this challenge had stuck to yoga. These classes are hard to follow and do not flow well.
I am always up for a good core challenge, so I really enjoyed this! Thanks, Kathi!
I agree with the other comments, as someone new to Pilates, I felt it has very different cues and breathing to yoga. I was concentrating so hard on watching the screen and trying to follow, instead of focusing on the actual movement .
I like how this class builds on previous pilates sessions of the challenge! Though I am more attuned to yoga cues and flows, I'm learning to welcome these Pilatic Disruptions as a way to keep in contact with a beginner's mind and actively seek my appropriate edge. Thanks Kathi!
I have been enjoying the yoga challenges but since I am 80 years old I am not up to the pilates. I am also confused by some of the rest and recover classes; they are usually for beginners and I fell that I haven't done anything after one of those classes. I would much prefer a more even set of challenges.
Totally agree, I realise that the challenge is meant to make us try things we wouldn’t usually but it’s just incoherent and, to me, not enjoyable.
The other pilates sessions in this challenge were too hard because of the difference in verbal cues... this one being advanced plus the other comments are why I skipped this one and subbed in a standalone Fiji class.
I have to agree with the other comments. I am not use to Pilates. I had a hard time with the verbal instructions and spent too much time looking at the screen.
Some Pilates moves take a lot of core strength. It makes it harder and different from yoga. Thank you for the challenge.
As someone with a lot of core strength, I also welcome challenges.
Power into 2022 is 'labeled' intermediate IMO it is a mistake to use an advanced practice. Sure challenge me, but, this practice left me more anxious and frustrated. Sorry.
I'm new to pilates and have really enjoyed the three sessions so far as part of the challenge - it's been fun to try something different to my usual yoga practice and I will definitely seek out some more pilates in future.
Totally agree, need a beginner series in pilates before being able to do this.
I just can't connect with these pilates practices. I find it confusing, hard to follow, and it always seems to leave me stressed and anxious.
I have found that to be the case for me, too, after the second pilates class. In no way am I opposed to pilates...I will try some beginner pilates with Kathi in the future. However, with that said, for those of us who have never done pilates before or have very little experience with it, I think it would have been more useful to have had them include beginner pilates classes in this challenge (even though it's an intermediate one).
