In the first class in Fiji's series on Yoga for Lower Back Care, Fiji spends time on how to activate the core and stabilize the body in order to protect the back and strengthen our natural support mechanisms. This is particularly important in a vinyasa flow, since poses like chaturanga and upward facing dog can be hard on the lower back if not done properly, but it's even more important in daily life when we're walking, running, lifting, reaching and working. I had a climbing accident and am having some back problems. This was a great class. I feel so much better and can feel the tension from my lower back and hips. Namaste!
I found the second session in the series yesterday. And, for me, this was the correct order. Both really wonderful classes, I can't wait for the next one.
I tend to go for variety, but with these I can see myself repeating many times as I better develop "Intention". When I started doing yoga it was mostly about keeping up. Now I've come to understand that it is about fine tuning intentional movement, breathing, and muscle use (and thinking). You do such a great job of teaching this. I greatly appreciate it.
My back has been acting up in the last few weeks and instead of going to my usual bookmarked sessions, I tried this class. After finishing the whole class without any hindrance due to pain or tightness, my back felt relaxed and mobile. Thank you Fiji for another amazing class.
