This is the second in a 3-part series where Fiji prepares your body for and teaches you how to do revolved bound side angle pose (parivrtta baddha parsvakonasana). This is a shorter class than the first, but packed full of challenging poses and a creative sequence that threads them all together. Fiji shines in this class, and you may find yourself moving into poses you never felt your body was able to access, including standing balances, back bends and twists. The first class in this series is Revolved Bound Side Angle Pose: Dynamic Twists. The third and final class is Revolved Bound Side Angle Pose: Workshop.

Wowza...love this class. My hips are still stretching out from this class. The pulling on the strap to pull the leg up really helps stabilize me. I used to never use the strap but it is helpful. Thank you.

I had to do this class twice because it was so difficult to do the binds and keep an eye on the screen, although to be fair, I forgot to watch it before attempting the first time. Second time was a charm and my confidence soared. Namaste

This class cemented for me what has always thrown me off wanting to do Fiji’s classes as part of challenges. She is firm and clear with her direction but I have always found a missing warmth in her tone (vocal delivery). This tone I detect was met with words in this class when she says “all you have to do is breathe. I am doing the poses and talking.” The comment could be seen equally as benign but for me personally, I am seldom able to find a good breath-asana connection in Figi’s classes. I was not able to do the pose nor was I in a good breathing rhythm from the transitions. I have been doing yoga for 20 years and always seeking some good Intermediate Hatha/ashtanga flows with preferably, warm teachers. Figi is a beautiful soul and there are moments this shines through but after about 10 classes, most of the time now, I skip her class.

I recommend keeping her classes under advance challenges only and perhaps compiling a challenge of good intermediate flow classes(45-60 mins) like Tracey’s that help us build breath focus and strength gradually. ( a short pranayama at the beginning is always helpful).

Feel free to read and not post this comment publicly. I just wanted to share my thoughts as a I truly appreciate your site. I imagine I’m not the only one with similar thoughts. Namaste.
