I needed more verbal guidance on the twist. I found it difficult to understand what parts of me should stay connected to floor and what should raise and twist. Verbal explanation usually more effective for me than trying to translate visual of what someone else is doing into what my body is supposed to do and feel. Student’s black pants made visual on twist even more challenging. Ended up tweaking my lower back on one of the side twists so suspect I was doing something wrong.

Thank you for your great feedback. You are right, twists can be tricky to navigate correctly and will endeavor to give more specific instruction in future videos. I am sorry you tweaked your back.
The safest way to twist, is to allow your hips to go with the twisting action. So if your knees are going to the right, let your left hip and even low back lift off the mat and follow the direction of the twist. The twist should feel comfortable, without any strain, anywhere.
I hope this is helpful. Please feel free to reach out to me, if you have any questions, [email protected].
Take care. Namaste. Tianne

Wow, thank you! I didn't even know that I needed to release my back until I did this class. As a matter of fact I almost talked myself out of doing this one as I did not think I needed my back released. This was very slow, very soothing, and calming. When you are in the pose her voice is just a warm cup of tea. Thank you
