Sacred Expansion

Intermediate II

Ron uses beautiful imagery - and a colorful ball - to guide you through this wonderfully challenging flow that focuses on expansion. His teaching style is like no other, full of fantastic analogies and a flow that often feels more like dance than yoga.

I hesitated when I saw the length of this class, but I'm very glad I gave it a try. This was my first class of Ron's. I found it to be very smooth, and I feel it was good breath work. Thank you.

This is a good flow. I like the movement. As others stated, I got off a bit due to some missing or late cues. There are times when you almost need to watch in order to not miss transitions. With other classes on the site, the verbal instructions are sufficient, which is important since you may be in a posture where you can’t look at your device. I had a hard time connecting to the ball metaphor. As a male, I like watching Ron. It provides a context for me. While I may not be able to achieve his level of flexibility, the quality of his movement is inspiring and reassures me that with time I can accomplish quality movement.

There is a jump in video where we are at the back of the mat and Ron (the teacher) continues moving us with a break in video so we are moving off mat and he is all of a sudden (video break/edit issue) at front.
There are a few transitions that he does not give equally to both sides, and that are somewhat dangerous on the back - so be cautious and centered, take some time as needed. Defintely need to be very experienced so you know immediately how to keep strong through this class with fast transitions that can be very straining.

I have done yoga for about 16 years and mostly can follow along all the DoYogaWithMe videos by just explanations without looking at the screen however in this one I find it impossible. The teacher talks about this wonderful ball of energy moving in the body but with no idea where he's actually going till way past my breath cycle, and very often not at all without moving out of position to look at the screen.

I highly suggest trying to follow a full breath behind but that is difficult to do.

Just a note- the breathy microphone makes it very difficult to know where to be in the breath cycle for those postures that are not explained, eventually I was able to get past it but it is an added difficulty.

Nice things about this video though -it's a lovely flow and the energy of the ball moving through the body helped me align and move deeper in lovely ways. I'd really like another teacher to do this flow. Some of Ken's other classes are easier to follow though. As a note to him, it'd be good to know where we are going First, then talk about the ball of energy getting us there.

Wonderful session. Loved the imagery with the expanding sphere. Felt my whole body opening up letting in air and light and energy and peace. Thank you Ron for this amazing class. This was a game changing experience. I just ordered one of these spheres to keep in my yoga space so I can connect with your sacred expansion invitations when I practice.

I didn't quite connect with this class...the ball metaphor didn't really click with me, and that's okay, that's not a problem. To me though, this class had a rushed, almost fidgety feel to it. I never felt like I understood where we were going to go next. The usual "flow" from movement to movement that I usually associate with Vinyasa yoga was missing for me here. I'm happy to see that others got so much enjoyment from it though!

This is a fun , challenging class that is definitely good for intermediate level to improve and push myself. I have done this class several times now. It is also amusing that at 23:40 Ron magically moves from the back of the mat to the front!! :)

This was one of the best yoga classes I ever witnessed. Thank you so much! I feel that my back is strong now and straight as well. I feel good, and calm and the practice was everything I was looking for. Ron is moving very gracefully and majestic! A great teacher to learn from!

This is my new favourite class! Ron's creative imagery kept me focused on taking full deep breaths throughout (something I usually struggle with due to anxiety). I haven't felt this calm or breathed so easily in as long as I can remember. Ron's style is so unique and it resonates with me, I would love to see more videos from him. Such a wonderful gift.

Thanks Ron, this is a wonderful class. I am amazed that I was able to do the entire class with little modification (my standing splits are a work in progress.) I felt like I was actually in a real life class. Wonder how my body will feel tomorrow? ;)

I was worried it was going to be woo-woo, but Ron kept it real. The ball imagery was helpful for me in finding the proper form for being expansive while not crunching my lower back. The time passed pretty quickly too for such a long video. Ron has a cute habit of making little clicking sounds, but more importantly he let us know when we might feel shaky or wobbly and even had his own wobbly moment, and turned it into something fun. I would take this class again.

As a beginner-intermediate practitioner of yoga, I was able to do most of the poses with a few modifications due to upper arm strength issues. The imagery of the class with the expanding and contracting ball was helpful in shaping my poses. I love the relaxed way Ron approaches the class, making me less anxious and more at ease when moving from pose to pose. I highly recommend this class, particularly for beginners who want to advance in their practice.

Kudos to Ron for creating such a gentle, yet challenging flow that was incredibly playful! While upside down, he mentioned how much more different the world looks, and this comment, as well as the pose, brought me back to a memory I had as a child. My heart is so full, thank you!

Ron, Thank you for a spiritual journey which I believe yoga is first and foremost while keeping awareness of where that is felt in one's body.
The pace of the flow allowed me to listen to myself and go deeper in a gentle, flowing way. I thought as your ball as a sacred opening my chakras I carried the centering from this practice all day. . Only one request, please do a series building on this flow practice you share so creatively...it is a gift. CMM

Thank you Ron for an amazing practice! I really enjoyed the slow pace which helped me to thoroughly experience my body in the poses and I feel that the slow pace actually makes it tougher sometimes compared to quickly moving through poses. I sweated a lot while I was somehow still relaxing and at the end I almost cried feeling the ball between my hands at my heart! Amazing that it´s possible to get such an experience out of a video!!

This was a really wonderful class, long and complete. Ron's guided imagery of the ball was very helpful to me and his verbal instruction was relaxed and even. I found myself really opening up to new levels in the standing poses, which are some of my favorites. Thank you for this class! I will definitely do this program again.

Great class Ron - thanks!

I have a lot of trouble with visualization, but even without the ball imagery this class is a perfect mixture of breath, power and flow. Challenging in parts, but always with precise instructions and much encouragement to stay in "your" yoga space.

This brushing up against the wall, then backing off a little is very good practice.

For those with good imagination this class will be even better.

I really enjoyed the ball analogy! Given that it's under the intermediate power yoga category I thought it was going to be more challenging than it was. Ron seemed to be having a hard time with the heat and humidity but here at home I would have liked to move through more poses in the 74 minutes.

Ron's sequence and style of teaching made this video one of the best yoga practices I've ever done. A perfect balance between challenge and relaxation, excellent use of imagery to help deepen poses in an invigorating way, and slow enough to really feel and breathe in each posture. Thank you!

This is a wonderful class! Ron's style is round and softer than what I've experienced with other instructors, but it is also informed and practiced. I literally felt more open and expanded after completing this class.

This class was surprisingly challenging for me. I felt great the day after completing it. One of my favorite characteristics about Ron's instruction style are his reminders to soften places and keep things pliable and comfortable in the pose. He has an excellent understanding of the body and was able to help me remind myself that my body is unique and I need to find my comfort zone or "sweet spot" in the pose, and avoid forcing my body into tight poses that are uncomfortable and not at all serving me.

I really enjoyed this class and the imagery of the ball is really helpful to expand your breathing. I did find the explanation a little vague at times, especially where I couldnt see the screen in downward dog or bridge pose, and it's not clear exactly what leg we're lifting or in which direction.. maybe a voicover would help to make it clearer? But great class overall!
