This gentle hatha yoga class is geared toward those who are 55+ or are new to yoga. David teaches you how to sit so you feel comfortable, how to move in a way that is safe and how to stretch so you get the best out of your yoga practice. It will help to have a few blankets and/or yoga blocks nearby for this class.

Hi. David mentions that there is a video that goes before this one but I am not sure how to find it. Thank you.
Yes, apologies for that. I've referring to the class before this one in the senior's challenge, here: https://www.doyogawithme.com/challenge/back-to-health-seniors
Thank you so much for your generosity in providing this resource. I had to give up my regular classes some months back, because of a torn rotator cuff and hip and low back pain. These classes are ideal to allow me to 'Begin again' and prevent me from stiffening up whilst I am isolated during the health crisis. Well done David. Namaste
HI
Thanks for this great program. My husband and I decided to start this as part of our stay home situation right now and he had some difficulty with staff pose. He cannot seem to stay upright while trying to extend his legs. He found out just how stiff he is at the moment. I wonder how best to help him with this or what kind of modification can be made when he is in staff pose. I would appreciate any advice you have on this
thanks
That's common, particularly for men. Many of us have such tight hamstrings and lower back! The best thing he can do is sit up higher, on a block or folded blanket. It's best if it's firm, so he doesn't feel unstable. It's also ok if he bends his knees. In fact, it's better that he bends he knees so that he can get his back upright.
Thanks!!!
Great core work! And nicely explained stretches. Wonderful.
Loved this back-to-basics class with David. Sitting with core strength is so essential throughout the day.
Plus so many 'basic' stretches, done right and in a clear, relaxed manner.
Happy I took the class, and will revisit.
Great basic stretches
Great class for lengthening and stretching the spine. Ahhhh.
Great class for alignment
I enjoyed this reminder of how my body should feel in these basic - but not simplistic - poses! Thanks!
Good sequence for spine opening. I need these gentle but substantial movements to get me back into my practice after being away for many months.
Very relaxing
Taking it slower means really paying attention to form and I like that. I feel really good after this class and, as someone else noted, there's more to this than might meet the eye!
Seemingly simple poses provide great stretches. I like how David explained that there are spaces between the joints and that we need to make space by stretching. I like knowing why certain stretches are beneficial to the body.

Ouch, but a good ouch.
Harder than you'd think.
Simple and gentle practice, great to return to basic form and make sure everything is in good alignment. A great foundation practice.
I enjoyed the pace and detailed directions within each pose. It certainly helps to achieve the full effect.
I enjoyed the pace and attention to details we often sometimes forget to practice within the poses.
Love the way I felt when finished
Thanks for a great day 2! The verbal descriptions are great, make it easier so you don't have to keep eyes glued on the screen.
While I have been doing the videos on this site for a long time now, I really appreciate the review of the basics. I love this site!
This was actually much more difficult than it seemed. Good directions but I felt like he thought we were all thin. Some of this I really couldn't do.
After a day of travel (2 hours each way), to sit in a meeting for 90 minutes, this was the perfect way to release tension in back and legs. Surprisingly more challenging than it looks, but feels oh so very good! Thank you!
Good basic instruction for proper alignment.
I appreciate the careful attention to form! Lovely stretch thanks
Things felt better today. I felt more of a flow ad was excited to start this morning right after my centering prayer.
Wonderful!
The instruction is good but the staff pose is a real struggle when your quads, glutes and low back are weak. Hope each day I will get stronger.
Enjoyed this short seated class. Again, David's cue's are great and I do find I am learning and integrating more and more how to achieve and maintain better posture in the poses. Thank you David!
Thanks, David. Looking forward to tomorrow.
a bit more challenging than yesterday
This is just the relaxing cuppa I needed as evening begins. Thank you so much David for your generosity and skill.
Excellent. I feel great after this session. Thank you David!
Nice demonstration and explanation and gentle stretching.
wonderful clear instruction and surprisingly challenging!
The cues came at the perfect time.
Better. Time went quickly!
David, you explain things so distinctly and in such a lovely relaxed manner. It helps me to relax and release. Your words are affirmations. Thank you. Namaste.
Nice stretch to get day started.
A very nice review. Thank you!
Thank you for clear guidance with these stretches. We are creating safe building blocks for later work.
Thank you David, for the excellent explanations of how the body is positioned and feels in each posture. The class was over before I knew it. I appreciated the fluid stretches.
Great video David.
wonderful series of stretches this morning! Thank you!!
An excellent way to relearn the correct poses. Thank you David.
Nice
