Thank you Dave. I do this class at least once a week. Its the perfect combination with all of Fiji's intense power flows, my desk job and carrying my 18 month old baby around. I love your website. Thanks for making it so affordable. I love lighting candles, setting my Mala on my nice Manduka Mat and doing my yoga sessions in the comfort of my own home, on my own time. THANK YOU!
Thank you for this! My back, neck, shoulders, chest, hips... everything is suffering from my desk job. I feel like it is slowly killing me, and I have learned to live with the pain by taking over the counter pain meds almost daily. I hate that, so I decided to look for a different alternative. My chiropractor suggested yoga, and this video is exactly what I need to do DAILY, in addition to your back strengthening videos. Just practicing this the first time, although a bit uncomfortable with all of the tightness and aches and pains, has given me hope. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You may have actually pointed me in a path that will save me! :)
This was JUST was I needed today. Amazing openness in my shoulders, neck, wrists, and ankles after completion, and seriously easily the best savasana I've ever experienced at the end thanks to the guided relaxation and the new found openness. Thank you, David!
A few years ago, I turned to yoga primarily to help with the TMJ issues I've had for many years. Whenever I fall out of practice for a week or two, the tension in my shoulders, neck and head begins to creep up and cause a lot of pain. It is so painful to begin practicing again that I often delay for several days even though I know it's the medicine my body needs. This class is gentle and thorough and provided the slow, attentive release my neck, shoulders and jaw so desperately needed. THANK YOU for this.. I am so happy I signed up for this course and will certainly return to this class again in the future.
Beautiful, relaxing practice that thoroughly stretches upper body and neck. I, too, had a bit of a hard time with all of the kneeling. However, I used a bolster between my legs to sit on and that helped immensely.
I got confused with left and right many times. He should always mirror our movements, his left is our right ect.. than you are really watching exactly what you are doing.
It IS confusing at first, however, the more you practice the more you quickly understand which is your right side and which is your left side. You're developing listening and awareness skills which really is what yoga is all about.
Thank you very much!
great stretch on the shoulder and neck
I am all of tons of hard positions and I find it hard to get through practices that are very beginner but my goodness! This practice is wonderful for all levels! Everyone should do this once or twice!
I have (mild) carpal tunnel syndrome, and nowadays, stiff neck.
I just opened the Yoga Program (Beginner Progressing to Intermediate) which I bought from DYWM long time ago, and it starts with this video. It was a miracle for my wrists and neck/upper back.
Thank you David.
2 nd favorite practice after David's seated hatha yoga flow. Loved every one of these poses. At first, it is painful sitting in Hero's pose for so long but then it becomes easier; and you feel you've accomplished something. I do the
shorter version of this which is on the DYWM channel on youtube.
Wonderful practice :). Thank you so much for creating a great practice. I am so much more relaxed and in my body.
I really enjoyed this class and the backround music is very beautiful. Thank you :)
Hi, I really enjoyed everything except for kneeling for so long really really hurts my ankles a lot..
Also to be honest the music is a bit stressful for me..
Otherwise really good first session. Thank you very much.
I found this relaxing but a little long. I found my shoulders very tight so a good class for me. I didn't like kneeling for so long. I think I would prefer a more varied session. Looking forward to tomorrow's class.
Thank you for this great class! It's the first time that i take it and i can say that I feel much more relaxed and my neck and shoulder in the right place.
Hi, David!
I tend to suffer from daily headaches from always looking down studying (I'm a student). After this sequence was complete, I felt as though I had a brand new back! This is an amazing series that I intend to continue practicing. Thank you and namaste.
Sincerely,
Molly
Thanks David,
I had a very stressfull week at work, and this made me so much destressed.
Everything is loose again, and i apriaciate the corpse pose, so relaxing.
I have done this video several times and every time it is even better then the last time. Thank you David
What an amazing practice! Can you please share the name of this music?
Thank you kindly!
I deeply enjoyed starting the yoga program with this sequence. Harder than I thought it would be but very nourishing. Thank you very much
Within 10 minutes my shoulders and neck already felt so much better, and my headache was going away. Thank you!
Wow David, wow. I had my first child 8 months ago and am starting up doing yoga again. I just want to say that this video is AMAZING and you fixed my aching shoulders! Lets be honest, a huge baby is hard on your back.
This helped me so much and by the end in the breathing session I was so calm that I actually fell asleep! It was wonderful!
So really, THANK YOU! Definitely doing this all the time now:)
This video is very aptly named! My shoulders got a very strong release as did my upper back. Thank you so much for this, I will return back to it the next time my shoulders are sore.
Although I loved this sequence, it has a kinda painful to be sitting in my heels half of the time. Once I crossed my legs, everything went better.
Yes, please do! In this video I sit on my heels a lot, but if that is uncomfortable sit cross-legged instead. It won't change the benefits of the class at all.
Take care,
David

I appreciate your fantastic sequence! Thanks...
Hi david,
i'm just starting the beginner to intermediate program and i noticed that this particular video requires a yoga strap. i don't own one yet and was wondering if this session can be done without the strap as well. could you help please?
thanks!!
Coming into this class, I was not expecting it to be completely seated (mostly). After about a half hour of being on my knees, I needed to give them a break. It is a real shoulder class and particularly enjoyable, especially in pace and teaching, but you will be seated on your knees for about 80% of the time.
David,
Thank you so much for this class! I didn't realize how much I needed this specific class, but I will definitely be doing this practice again soon. Thank you for all you do for doyogawithme.com! This is such a fantastic website. :)
Take care,
Eva
David, I developed frozen shoulder syndrome on my right one in January 2013, and went to PT which didn't do much for it....I was recommended to start Yoga right after my left shoulder started to go in July. Although any shoulder pose is challenging (more on left than in my right, which is healing now), I can see the difference during each class....
Today, I did yours for the first time. It wasn't easy - rather painful at times, but I know I have to move slowly and be patient with myself, the truth is that this class is a BLESSING! And the relaxation at the end is exactly what the doctor order to breath the pain away.
Thank You.
After practicing this class again with David, I have to make a general comment with regards to the narration and voice overs in general. David, you are by far the easiest and most succinct voice in any of the videos. Your other teachers would do well to emulate your technique in this skill not just your Yoga prowess.
Hi I have a bad shoulder. Possibly rotatory cuff injury but for sure I have some arthritis in the ac joint. I feel it in the joint when doing the exercizes but they don't have a lasting effect good or bad. Do you have any thaughts on the effects of Yoga on injured or bad shoulders, or joints in general?
Hi there.
Thanks for the question.
The shoulder is a extremely complicated joint, and because of this even trained professionals have difficulty diagnosing the cause of joint pain or lack of mobility. What I would recommend it experimenting carefully with what you are able to do, and avoid what causes pain or inflammation the next day.
It is, of course, best to get advice from someone in person, such as a physiotherapist or massage therapist.
Take care,

According to its purpose - to work around the shoulders area, which also includes neck, arms, chest,... - this class is Pure Perfection!
Thank you so much, David.
Peace and Love :-).
I was really looking forward to this video because my back and shoulders need MUCH attention. However, half way thru the class I had to shut it off. Sitting back on my feet like that is not comfortable at all. I tried adjusting and sat in a cross legged position but that didn't exactly work either. How can all of you sit on your heels like that?! Am I doing something wrong?
Hi there.
That's a great question. You're not alone - many people find it uncomfortable to sit on their heels, due to tight ankles or knees. There is a way to adapt the pose so that it is comfortable though. Try this:
1) Roll up two small towels so they form cigar shapes a few inches thick.
2) Get a few firm pillows or blankets.
3) This time when you sit back on your heels, place the rolled up towels under your ankles, and stack as many pillows and/or blankets on the floor, under your seat, as you need.
The higher you are sitting, the easier on your body. The more cushion under your ankles, the easier it will be on your feet.
Let me know if that helps.

Hi purpleNBD.
I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. Daveofnorway is right, you can use anything that is similar to a strap, such as a rope, belt or tie.
All the best,
David

You could use a belt, a tie or a luggage strap instead.
What a wonderful series. I appreciate your gently authoritative voice. So calming. Thank you, David!
I've had a knot in my back for several days now and I finally decided to do this series. I can still feel the knot, but I feel so much better, so much more relaxed. I'm no longer in pain like I was when I began this video. Thanks, David. I really dig your style of teaching.
This is the best sequence for shoulders I have ever done. My shoulders no longer feel like my own - in a good way! I really feel like a great deal of tension has been lifted literally off my shoulders. A few more sessions will most certainly do the trick.
Great Teacher, great class and I highly recommend it!
All of my favorite videos so far in one uncut version. This really does stretch everything I need all in one class, thank you.
Fantastic
I love this class. all the repetition is perfect - just the way i like to practice.
thanks!
I have seriously never had a better shoulder stretch! I have chronic problems with frozen shoulder and this class made it feel better than it ever has.
Thank you so much for creating this site.
Great class ! Fantastic stretches, great scenery and music and fine relaxation !
It's really wonderfull. Now i can hope that my stiff shoulders would be working again inshallh.God may bless you.
