Why Do We Call This Anxiety?
Have you ever asked yourself why the word anxiety exists and what exactly it is? It may seem like a silly question, but who's to know that everyone living with anxiety is experiencing something similar? If that's a possibility, than does the label even help? If it does, how? How is it serving you and how is it preventing you from letting go of it? Join David in this video to explore these important questions. Thank you so much for sharing, everyone. Yes, you are NOT MAD! :-) And yes, the tension associated with anxiety can absolutely move around the body. In fact, it's important to relate to your body in that way - your body and mind, and therefore your sensations, are constantly in flux. They NEVER remain the same, even though we may think they do. So treat them that way and spend time feeling the perpetual shifts and changes within you.
My anxiety gathers in my chest, like that dropping, terrifying, electric feeling when you just start to free fall. I appreciate that so many of these exercises are about grounding and feeling things in your body in order to get out of your head. Thinking about what's triggering the feeling does not help at all. Finding a way to bring the charged feeling down does. Thank-you.
Things I thought watching this: "I'm not actually mad?!"... "THIS is me". I've never felt spoken to or heard before about anxiety (using the word for communication purposes only). Thank you David. Fran
