21-Day Relaxation Course

This 21-day course uses three different techniques to help you relax your entire being on a deep level, each 7 days long. The first uses tense and relax to introduce the mind to the sensation of true relaxation. The second teaches you to scan your body part-by-part. The last 7 days takes you into a wonderful, deeply restful, total body relaxation.

This was my first time doing tension mediation and it was amazing. I'll be saving it to my favorites.

There is no Day 16. There is Day 19 audio instead of Day 16.

Hi, I have been doing this for three days now, but I always wake up the next day in a lot of pain. I assume this is from the tensing? Is this normal/ am I tensing too hard? Thanks in advance

Hi, there. Yes, you could be tensing too hard. Try doing it more gently and see how you feel the next day. The intention is to experience the difference between tension and relaxation, so you can adjust according to your needs.

Take care,

David

At first I found it difficult to isolate the different parts of my body but after my third session I feel great. It's so relaxing. Thank you!

I look forward to doing this when I get off of work everyday. I run at least once a week and usually I have pain in the arches of my feet that shoot up to my calves but today I had no pain at all. I was able to run without stopping. Every day I feel less tense and less pain when I do this meditation. Thank you!

In the introductions you keep pointing to that sense of "not-doing" or "not-trying", which I experience from time to time ( approx. once a month, haphazardly), and intellectually I understand, what you are talking about. I experienced that kind of mentality quite often when I was a teenager, especially when I was practicing an instrument, just a few years ago.

Why do I feel, that this mentality occurs more and more rarely for me? I don't like that trend. Without that, practicing an instrument is a silly waste of time. Doesnt get me anywhere... a famous teacher once called this "an ego trip". I experienced, that I can only build up abilities on that instrument, when I developed a good contact to it, which also implies that kind of "flow-mentality" or effortlessness. Only then exercises make sense. Not only instruments, not only yoga exercises. I took the instrument as an example, because I think it is one of the most immediate ways of experiencing that effortlessness-mentality.

It is not only effortlessness, which characterizes that mentality. There is also a seriousness to it. Not an uptight seriousness, but an integral seriousness.

It took me 5 classes to be able to separate the body parts and not putting more effort into tensing each region than required. Finally, I have a sense of what being relaxed means and it is a marvelous feeling!

David, I finished your 21-day anxiety class and then started this one, which has been helpful to keep my focus on letting go and learning how to do nothing....so hard! I clench my jaw at night so much that I wake in significant neck/shoulder/head pain, so I'm hoping this facilitates more relaxing in my sleep. I am grappling with the concept of how to not want things to change. After all, I want this pain to go away, and I want to feel more ease in my daily life, but I'm trying to be patient with the process. Thank you for offering me tools so I can develop more peace in my life. Thank you for the feeling you give that you're with me through the journey. I wonder if you've considered any classes about releasing anger. I know that could be helpful for me.

Thank you for reaching out. I appreciate how much you have shared.

It's fantastic hearing that you are making progress and that you are thinking about the concepts and how they apply to your life. Always keep in mind that you may feel the tension, pain, emotional blocks now, and that's fine. The most important thing, you pointed out, is to avoid wanting it to be different. If you are truly ok with it, that allows you to fully feel it, which is how it will begin to crumble and lose its grip on you.

I'm so happy for you! Please stay in touch and let me know how you're doing.

Warmly,

David

I fell asleep multiple days... Always awake when the bell rings though. Thank you David, for helping me see the concept of relaxation different than being lazy. Being burnout is tough, as is getting my life back on track, but it seems I have found a missing link in my recovery... Now I can only try to make or take time for this daily, as I will start to work more

I find your meditations wonderful and extremely helpful. I would like to suggest that the sessions be independent of each other rather than flowing into the next session. The problem is that if you want to remain in a meditation, it is disturbing to hear the next meditation begin. Because I am in state of complete relaxation it would nice not to have to disrupt that feeling to stop the next session from starting.

Thanks David love and appreciate your work,

Hi there. Thanks for the kind words.
There's unfortunately no way to set them up so that each track stops. The only way to do this is to purchase the tracks and set them up that way on your device.
Thanks again!

I am doing the 21 one day course and am on day 4, I am finding that my mind is still racing all over the show but I m sure with time it will slow down. I really find the instructions at the beginning helpful about letting things be and not wanting things to change. Thank you David and thank you for the whole site - it is a lifesaver.

Day 3 : Tensing without effort... what a revolutionary concept for me. Now, I shall also practice doing without effort. I guess it could be a long path... We'll see ; ) Thanks David for your so brilliant insights and for being able to bring them in a simple and clear practice. Much love.
