Retreat Description

Join Fiji McAlpine at House of Light in Southern Spain this Spring for a 3-night, 4-day yoga retreat.  This beautiful retreat center is nestled into the mountains, surrounded by nature.  The Morrocan style architecture of the center is stunning and a perfect venue for this intimate retreat.  There are 2 practices a day, 3 incredible healthy meals, and time to explore, relax poolside, or get body treatments.

The intention of this retreat is to create an opportunity to reconnect with what is real, and who we are. The asana practice offers us a powerful set of tools to reunite the mind with what is real and true. Focusing in on details of sensation, purposeful and precise movement, we become more grounded in the present and remove ourselves from living in the imagined. Only here can we ever be present enough to settle back into our true self.

Venue

The House of Light Retreat Centre is a tranquil sanctuary set among the stunning natural backdrop of La Alpujarra in Southern Spain. This location has a special, vibrant energy that has long attracted spiritual travellers and those on soul-led well-being journeys.

House of Light is, energetically, such a special place to do personal transformation and body work while feeling close to and connected with nature. The magical property and land, from where you can view both the mountains and ocean, is beautiful and inspiring, as well as incredibly nurturing. Its diverse and distinctive spaces have been intricately and lovingly designed to give individuals the opportunity to connect with nature, open up, drop into vulnerability and connect quickly and deeply with one’s self.

Food

Nourishment and nurturing is a big part of what we offer at House of Light. While inviting people to ‘come home to themselves’ and partake in personal, often transformational work, we have excellent chefs to design and provide delicious vegetarian menus to suit your group.

Led by co-founder Ceri, a very talented and passionate team of chefs will tantalise your taste buds and nourish your body with our clean, nutritious and exciting cuisine. All ingredients for our vegetarian, vegan and raw food meals are either grown in our gardens or carefully sourced from local farmers. Our menus are designed to feed both body and soul, using fresh ingredients and organic whole foods prepared with love and consciousness. All dietary requirements can be catered for.

Accommodations

All of the rooms at House of Light have been decorated with a care and love and have their own individual charm, colour and feel. Ranging from our wonderful, traditional yurts to our deluxe, fully ensuite, Moroccan inspired rooms, we have inviting, calm spaces designed to both inspire and relax. Each room can accommodate a double bed or two twin beds and come with bedding and towels. All rooms in the main house have underfloor heating and the yurts, their own individual heaters, to keep them cosy in the winter.

Testimonials

I have been doing yoga for over twenty years, and have had a difficult time finding yoga instructors that I enjoy. Since finding Fiji McAlpine on DoYogaWithMe about three years ago, I finally found a yoga instructor whose teaching style is perfect for me. I did her classes for over a year before attending her retreats for two years in a row in Mexico. It was even more incredible practicing with her in person. She pushes you to your edge and her classes are challenging, but it is in a way that is safe, mindful, and teaches you to listen to your own body. The retreat location was fantastic, and Fiji made herself available to everyone during and after the classes. I strongly recommend her retreats and classes for yogis of all levels. She is a wonderful yoga instructor, and a caring, considerate, insightful person!

Janna, Retired, Virginia, USA

I had watched DoYogaWithMe videos with Fiji for about five years before I went to a retreat to meet her live and in person. To me it felt like meeting a favored celebrity! But within moments, I felt like a cherished old friend of hers, seeing her with her family, talking over dinner, having "real" conversation, even going on a hike! It made me relax more about doing several hours of yoga in a week with her - which was incredible. I completed challenging poses I had never done before (wheel, headstand, handstand, crow) and really strengthened my resolve to practice daily. She takes the time to individually assist you with melting deeper into a pose, correcting a stance, or helping you to breathe appropriately. Mexico 2019 was a time and place, and experience I shall never forget! Thank you Fiji!

Fiji's retreats are an essential part of my practice: each time I am amazed at what more I can do.

Anthony, Business Executive, Boston, USA

I have attended three DoYogaWithMe retreats. Fiji is a gifted instructor! She creatively weaved common threads throughout the week, mixing in both familiar and new elements each day. A lovely retreat!

Loralie, North Carolina, Realtor

Fiji planned a thoughtful and thorough exploration of asanas and pranayama, and seamlessly integrated them into her always wonderful sequences. She was present throughout the retreat to answer questions and give advice and never failed to address questions during or after her classes.

Hillary, NYC, USA

Fiji's classes offer an opportunity to challenge and advance in both life and yoga practice through her spirited playfulness and a strong connection to the heart and soul.
