This is a more gentle vinyasa style yoga class with a focus on using your breath and core to get you into your seated, standing and lunging poses. It's intended to slow you down and allow you to give more attention to your poses, with an emphasis on twists.

This can either be done as a stand-alone class or as Day 13 of the Daily Dose 30-Day Intermediate Yoga Challenge.

I'm taking the 30-day yoga challenge for building resilience at the intermediate level - I will admit that the sequence of classes is tough for me and after 5 days of intense challenge, I needed a break. So I decided on this video today. It was a little too easy, but then again, that shows that I'm improving from all those other classes! That being said, this was an invaluable class - Melissa's emphasis on focusing on your breath and your core is really, REALLY important. I'm always relying on leverage to enter twists and this was a refreshing and humbling reminder that I need to go back to basics a bit before challenging myself to attempt harder classes. =) So those of you who count yourselves as intermediate/advanced, do yourself a favor and watch this one too.

I have been doing yoga for many years and I never really understood how it could actually feel good. My hamstrings are VERY tight and always have been, so seated forward folds have always been uncomfortable. The way Melissa worded how a seated forward fold should be done and the purpose of it, taking the hamstrings out of the equation, really turned on a light for me. I actually enjoyed it! I enjoyed the entire practice. Thank you, Melissa.

Thank you Melissa! This was a nice class to remind me to breath and how to breath using the core. Lately in other classes I've been neglecting proper breathing trying to get through the poses. Particularly with the seated twist, I noticed how doable the pose is without pushing yourself to turn with the arms. That's a big takeaway for me from this class. Would love a longer version of this class too!
