Rachel takes you through a more challenging sun salutation, focusing on alignment principles and breath. Her clarity, precision and good nature will help you through this class, and you may learn a few things too!
THANK YOU! I have been recovering from a hamstring strain and front labrum (hip) tear - this felt so so good! My pain is going away and it's comfortable to walk again! I will try to do this on a weekly basis as I think it's a fabulous way to retrain the hips and legs!
This was a bit more challenging for me but I did almost everything. She explained the moves so that made it easier for me. Maybe after I conquer this, it's time to move to the next level? Nice job!
It's a bit hard for true begginers, but it s a nice stepstone you have to master before considering yourself something else than a beginner! So in my opinion it s like an exam, if you can't master this class you re still a beginner :-) and that's ok!
Thanks a lot!!!
Feeling sometimes pain in the hips after yoga practices, I was very happy to do this class - and be more aware of my other muscles' support. Will definitively be more attentive to this from now on! I am following the Ongoing Intermediate Program (I recommend the programs to everyone, it's really amazing how you can progress with these) and I found Rachel's class easy, clear and just challenging enough. Namaste :)
I'm sure this is a wonderful class for a bit later. But having just gone through all the previous beginner classes, this was a HUGE jump. There should probably be another step before this. This was way too fast-paced, and it introduced the names of new poses without explanation, which means I was looking at the screen trying to figure out what was going on, instead of just letting my body move. I will likely come back to this later, but for now I'm going to look for something slower for a beginner.
Thanks for all the work you yogis do! I've already improved my chronic hip pain by great bounds, and I'm eager to more fully embrace being an embodied soul.
Great teaching Rachel! I'm a super newbie, I've been playing around with Yoga and I'm dedicating 2018 to educating myself. Your class is a great start! Thank you so much for your teaching!

Hello Rachel thank you for this nice class. I want to ask a question. Is it normal to have a little lower back pain after one day from exercise?
Before I had a similar lower back pain after David's another class and it was one day long and gone after one day.
Hi Ahmet, while it is normal to experience sensation after physical activity, it's important to evaluate what kind of pain you are feeling. Muscle soreness is normal (it usually fades in 1-3 days) and may indicate that you are simply exercising muscles in a new way. However, sharp pain may be a sign that something isn't being worked properly. I may also suggest that low back aggravation could suggest a weaker core. You may check out the Core Primer series on DYWM for a couple days and see how you feel :)
This class required great focus and attention. The instructions were exquisite and the results were my ability to tune into poses in a way that gave me more poise and stability. Much gratitude Rachel!
This class echoed and extended many of the things I learned yesterday in the last of a series of amazing beginners classes at a very well-regarded local studio. It was a great 'day after' reminder - and a real workout. This is definitely going into the book-marked list!
I'm so glad David suggested this class. I may have done it once before when I started with DYWM. Now I'm transitioning to some more challenging classes, and this is a perfect pathway between my beginner and intermediate practice. Flawless instruction with clear descriptions and visual demo's that sustain the flow without chopping it up. What a knowledgeable and gifted teacher Rachel is, thank you. I found ANOTHER favourite doyogawithme class.
I used muscles I didn't know I had! And now I know why I had hit a bit of a plateau in my practice. It's so important to approach every practice with a beginner's mind.
Such good instructions about using the inner body bones and muscles your knowledge is very helpful and really makes me think about what I should be doing instead of just going through the motions
I will share this one and also put it on one of my favourites
Peace and love
OMG this class is amazing! I've got seriously tight hips and this morning, afer doing this class, they feel so much better. I'll definitely be coming back for more! Thank you so very much Rachel and Do Yoga With Me. You're AWESOME!! <3

I don't really consider myself a beginner anymore, but now I know I've needed this class for a loooong time. I found lots of corrections in my form (and in the muscle groups I've been making relentless demands of). Rachel is utterly delightful, and this session really was a joy. I'm so glad to have come across this, thank you!
What a great class! I feel like I really learned a lot. I also loved the sequence of this video, I was wondering if anyone knew of classes on here with similar sequence to encorporate all I've learned!!?
I love the way you explain the steps. It makes me aware of so much more in each pose and the class also has a great flow to it. I felt a lot stronger in each pose just because of how much more engaged the legs are (because of your attention to detail). Thank you!
Even though this is a beginner class, it does an excellent job at pinpointing important muscles that can be overlooked in fast paced vinyasa flow. I really enjoyed the class and will definitely come back to it when I want to refocus my alignment and toning!
This was such a wonderful class experience. I so appreciate Rachel going outside the box and creating so much awareness in the ways in which we can move our bodies. It is not always something that comes naturally, to understand the small ways our muscles support us and how we can use intention to really engage them. I appreciate this class so much!!
Really tested my strength but this class will be great to do in another few months when I am fully acclimated to yoga. Still working on it, made my legs shake really good though!
HOLY COW! After many years of professional ballet, I have developed impingement of both the right and left hips and am on track for hip surgery. THIS IS THE ONLY THING THAT HAS EVER MADE MY HIPS FEEL BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi there! I know I'm late to the commenting party, but I just wanted to connect to tell you how happy I am that the class has helped your hips. It's such a relief when you can find some space from chronic pain. All my best.
I also do intermediate classes, but wanted to try a class with Rachel. I'm so glad I did. This really helped me be more thoughtful about poses that otherwise I take for granted. I really appreciate the concentrated attention to specific muscles. And, thanks for the reminder to move a little left or right to get that "juicy" hip opening at the end; I needed that. Many thanks to Rachel
I really like Rachel Scott's classes, and am very grateful that she is sharing her talents here on DoYogaWithMe. I really enjoyed doing this class today, and found it to be a good workout because of all the "Downward Dog" poses. A great practice and I feel well stretched and energized after the class. I also like how she allows us to cool down at the end with the poses on our front and back lying on the mat. Namaste!!
This was my first workout from the website and it was just what I was looking for. I have dabbled in yoga off and on for several years, and just started practicing it regularly just over a month ago. I'm not yet ready for intermediate classes, but I needed a workout that would challenge my strength and balance a little more. This workout really helped me to further refine the poses I have been practicing as well as introduce a few new ones to start working on.
I have super tight hips and legs and this was a perfect reintroduction to yoga after a long hiatus. I think the cues and alignment tips will be helpful in other classes as I get back into yoga, and I'm grateful for the class!
I'm coming back from a running injury, and part of my recovery involves getting my inner and outer hip muscles to activate. This class is a perfect supplement to my physical therapy exercises. I've already followed this video at least five times, and I really do feel a difference in how I am moving and supporting myself on and off the mat. Thank you for offering this class!
The practice was great. It was first time with Rachel and she is good teacher. My only concern is when normally the camera is only on 1 corner, this time it was showing too many angles and i got lost from time to time whenever i wanted to check if i was doing the pose right. I don't know how it is for the others, but for me it was a lil bit confusing.
I have been away from yoga for almost 5 years now, though used to have an advanced practice. This was my first class back and what an amazing walk back through the fundamentals and definitely working muscles I had long since forgotten about. I am excited now to get back in to a routine and will definitely be looking for more of Rachel's classes! Thank you so much for these!

Simply wonderful. So nice to go deeper into basic poses and engage more areas I was not activating. I love learning more amd more. Thank you.

just way too hard for a beginner. I had to quit halfway through. Disappointed. :(

Thank you for your quick response Rachel. Pain is gone in 2-3 days after exercise. It was muscle soreness i guess.

Wow. Wonderful class - and such precise instruction. It was like Rachel knew exactly what adjustments I needed. Fantastic class.

Hi Jill, I am so glad that you have enjoyed the class and the practice! Happy to be practicing with you :)
It's amazing how you can train your muscles!
In school I learn how to reach a balance between mind and body and these exercises really help.
Hi there! Yes, that's amazing!! It'll be great to see how this serves you in other practices as well : ) Happy practicing!

I am so glad that you found this helpful! It's such juicy fun to tap into those little muscles that we don't always have access to :)

Outstanding class! After three months of doping dywm programms i was finally capable of following up Rachel's rythm! Very dynamic!
Thanks Rachel!
