Hi there.
Great question. It sounds like your knee is becoming uncomfortable with the combination of compression and twisting. Try placing a folded blanket or small pillow under the knee and see if the pain goes away. I imagine that it will, since it will lessen the amount of twisting in the joint. Sometimes it only takes a little bit for a knee to tell you to back off.
