Got a hamstring injury? Yoga is known as a flexibility practice, but what happens when you overstretch your hamstrings? Specifically designed for students who are working with a pulled hamstring or hamstring tendinopathy (often called, “yoga butt”), this class with Rachel will functionally strengthen your hamstrings and support your pathway to recovery. It is also an excellent class for students looking to cultivate lower body strength in general.

I'm using this class to strengthen my hamstrings. Having a hard time with this. I feel it in my knees, quads, and lower back. Do you have any tips? I feel like I overwork those areas keeping weak hamstrings and that as I age I'm going to damage my low back, in particular. TIA.

Hi Gina,

This class is a great tool for what you are trying to do, it will take some time and consistant practice to start to notice the shift. Lower back pain can be linked to the hamstrings being to tight, so in addition to strengthening them flexibility and mobility are also important. As you fee your practice in your knees and back, it is important to be mindful of those areas during practice and perhaps modify some of the forms to protect these areas. This might mean keeping a pelvic tilt and not bending as far into the front knee.

Thank you SO MUCH for your deep knowledge & clear instruction, you have been incredibly helpful to my practice <3
If you happen to be considering doing a class on proper alignment for joint health/longevity, it would be absolutely celebrated and appreciated from here :)
