Rising Phoenix
Rise from the ashes to reclaim your confidence and resilience. In this class, Andrea breaks down the necessary elements to rise up into bird of paradise: inner thigh opener, internal shoulder rotation, core strength, and transitional balancing. Note: A strap is optional for this practice. As well as a blanket or block for knee support.
This can either be done as a stand-alone class or as Day 10 of Cultivate Your Inner Teacher 14-Day Intermediate Yoga Challenge.

I've been using Do Yoga With Me for 4 years but I don't think I ever commented here before. UNTIL THIS VIDEO. It is SO good. Andrea is so cheerful that I feel like I'm practicing with a friend so I don't mind when it gets hard. Her transitions are unexpected in a good way, and helpful--I was able to postures I have never done before. I'm excited to try all of her classes on here now.
Wow. Just wow. Your teaching style certainly resonates with me. I have not yet gained the hip mobility to preform bird of paradise and I usually sit and breath and visualize myself in the pose one day or stay in a much more modified version. Though I had difficulty rising up in my puppet string today, it is thrilling to have a reasonable, attainable goal to step stone to the complete pose one day. Thank you.
Your building-block style classes are absolutely my favorite. For the first time ever, I managed raise my bird all the way up on both sides. Thank you! One thing I wanted to pass along, my PiYo instructor has started mirroring the class so when she says, "Lift your left leg," she's actually lifting her right leg but it allows the class to mirror her moves. I find I'm less likely to start with the wrong leg that way. I'm looking forward to more classes from you, Andrea.
WOW what a joyous class, Andrea! I have been slowly building up to Intermediate classes after a year of being less on the mat. This was a perfect balance of challenge and excitement. Thank you. Namaste!
