I just wanted to take time to thank you, Nicky, and share a little about what came up for me. First of all, a healthy dose of cynicism- which is how I knew I really needed to keep going. I'm very glad that I did... Once I moved past that resistance, I really felt myself connecting to my grief. This surprised me but it was refreshing to be surprised. I've done a fair amount of work with my negative emotions and I didn't expect to find the sadness in my body today nor did I expect to feel it so viscerally. When I did, it was in my heart, my lungs and it felt very heavy and dark... but it came with a wave of this very light feeling, a lot like gratitude. Your practice helped remind me that our grief can be our greatest gift. It can teach us about ourselves, our bodies and the shared reality we all live in. I would be curious as to your thoughts on this Nicky, or anyone's here at doyoga with me, but either way the reflection and the space you provided are a very special gift to me, so thank you.

I'd like to leave this quote here. It has been with me for a long time on my journey. I was reminded yet again of it's potency today.

“The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.
Is not the cup that holds your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter's oven?
And is not the lute that soothes your spirit, the very wood that was hollowed with knives?
When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy.
When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.” --Kahlil Gibran

I love this class. I was kind of depressed and tired and didn't want to do it....but after the hour (and during it) I felt wonderful!
Helps for my chronic back pain as well.
I love this class!

That hour went by so fast! Beautiful, slow, easy practice. Fabulous for really sinking into stretches and releasing tension.
