Monthly Update - September 2020

What does September signify for you? A return to school and strict daily routine? Perhaps September is when you harvest the garden to share your bounty with friends and family... Or is it the month that you swap breezy summer fabrics for cozy woolen layers? Whatever September means to you, the transition of one season to another offers us the opportunity to reflect on how we have oriented ourselves in relation to the outside world, and whether to stay the course or make an adjustment in our approach.

Time Out Yoga for Kids
Yoga for Kids | 17 min | Beginner I

This kids yoga class from Alyssa Jean is ideal for times when big emotions are present. The practice starts with pressure releasing movements to help clear that energy out of the body before transitioning to deep breathing, calming inversions and balancing restorative postures.

This seated meditation from Ron draws participants out of the mind and into their body. By following the breath, Ron turns us inward to observe embodied sensation and to become aware of the body's natural rhythms. As we sink deep into this calm place, our nervous system relaxes.
 
Gentle Yoga | 62 min | Beginner I
Instructor: Tianne Allan
Spinal health is crucial to our well being and is the connective frame of the whole body. This beginner practice with Tianne helps strengthen and elongate the spine, while improving mobility in the back body.
 
Guided Meditation | 16 min | Beginner II

Loving-kindness meditation is a fantastic practice for cultivating kindness and compassion for ourselves and our environment. In this metta meditation practice, Nyk leads you in generating kindness, goodwill and warmth through the internal, silent repeatition of a sequence of mantras.
 
Vinyasa Yoga | 53 min | Intermediate I
Instructor: Fiji McAlpine
It requires tremendous courage to 'let our guard down' and release the tension that is help within our bodies. This flow with Fiji will navigate the internal energy patterns, playing with the ebb and flow of active and passive energy. Fiji plays with the energetic threshold between yin and yang, by engaging and then releasing within the body. To establish an internal balance, we must first bring balance to our external body and practice.
 
Jivamukti | 40 min | Intermediate II
Instructor: Jonni-Lyn Friel
In this intermediate, jivamukti inspired practice from Jonni-Lyn, start a slow and steady burn that progresses through sun salutations, a variety of standing poses, deep body core activation and hip openers. It culminates in a headstand, before winding down with pranayama and finishing with a long savasana.
