Mind-Body Restorative Yoga

Beginner I
This class helps release deeply held tensions from the body with restorative yoga poses and clears the mind with a delightful Blue Sky meditation. With blankets supporting and creating comfort for our body, we will explore chest, shoulder and hip openers, twists, and a final, deeply restful Shavasana. All levels welcome. “We need a small space where we can take care of our nervous system and restore our tranquility and peace.” ― Thich Nhat Hanh, How to Relax

Delightfully relaxing. I didn’t realize how un-relaxed I was before.

I often find it difficult to do the slower classes as I get a bit anxious keeping the poses, but this one helped me relax

Once I resigned into the notion that this was more a guided meditation than a movement session I relaxed into it. For our longer weekend classes I would have preferred a more challenging yoga session. For what Tianne teaches she is successful. But I already have a daily meditation practice.

The subtle and thoughtful placement of the blankets providing support, security and warmth made all the difference in allowing complete surrender and relaxation. I am grateful that I decided to cover my eyes as well, made a huge difference. Lovely practice. Thank you Tianne

I did not like the blue sky-visualization. Color blue doesn't calm me down at all. Otherwise, good class

Tianne’s calming voice gives this practice a feel of peacefulness and helped me relax. I also like the outdoor setting with the green foliage as a background. It helps to watch the video before the practice so that the student can focus on relaxation. I would also like to be able to see the poses or shapes from different angles. A view from above would be helpful. I’m not a photographer so I don’t know if this is possible. Perhaps views from a ladder or even a small camera drone might give a better view of the shapes Tianne describes.

This was different. I am still processing it. I think it's because my definition of restoration and yoga don't fit into this practice. And that's alright. I am sure I will still notice the benefits as I go. I am used to having more movement in my practice and so my mind keeps wanting to put this in a "meditation" category. I know the little movements and twists are very beneficial though. This whole challenge keeps surprising me. This is definitely a mind-body challenge.
Thank you, Tianne.

This was a very relaxing class. I found the blue sky concept distracting and prefer to focus on the breath and body sensations. I prefer a more natural guidance rather than one where relaxation is emphasized through the way the words are spoken.

I am just getting back to yoga after quite a few months away, due to some respiratory ailments. The class brought me back beautifully. My entire body feels the energy and restoration of this class and my mind is balanced. Thank you. So good to be back! I will take this class again.
