Hatha Yoga for the Hands, Arms and Shoulders

Beginner I

Releasing the muscles of the hands, arms and shoulders is so beneficial for everyone, without exception. In particular, this class is great if you want to help prevent or heal joint problems such as arthritis or carpal tunnel syndrome, improve performance at the office or in your chosen sport, improve posture or just feel better. As David says, the key is understanding alignment and moving in a way that encourages release and allows you to let go of stress.

I love these hand and feet stretches. Areas that do so much but never get the care they need. I sit at a computer most of the day so my wrists have really tightened up over the years and these are the only exercises that really help me have that not happen! Thanks, David!

This practice was perfect for me as I have a lot of tension in the upper back, shoulders and arms. I felt very relaxed after and will be doing this regularly. Thank you so much David.

Everyone should be able to find some benefit from this practice in my opinion. While previewing the video, I started doing the stretches with David so I’ve done them twice in the past two days. I’m bookmarking this video and will definitely return to it in the future. Thanks for offering such a variety of videos in this 30-day Challenge.

love the arm and hand work. This is one I need to do regularly to keep the fingers supple & shoulders loose.

Another great class to bring life to the arms, fingers, wrists, and upper back especially for those of us spending a lot of time sitting and typing. Thank you

As I am recovering from surgery, my yoga classes/postures are limited. This class helps keep my upper body loose and worry-free as lower body recovers :)

nice overview of arm stretches. As a beginner, I had to switch my foot/leg position halfway through.

Wow... I don't realize how incredibly tight my shoulders are most days, but after a weekend of painting, this was a very challenging class. Thank you.

Nice. I found some these stretches to be pretty challenging, but they hurt so good. I also feel much better with this video than I did with the earlier one, so I'm seeing progress in loosening up these areas already. Thank you!!

as someone who frequently uses a keyboard for 3-10 hours a day, this was a joy to perform. my hands feel light and limber, which may not seem like much but mine are doubtlessly as sore and tight as an Olympian swimmer's back

I did this as part of the 30 day challenge and didn't expect to find it so rewarding! I've only recently made it into reverse prayer, but by the end of this class it came easily. This is a great class for climbers - we tend to end up with rounded shoulders, tight forearms and injured fingers. I'll definitely be visiting this one again when the 30 day challenge is done.

I have done already some previous of these classes on shoulder, arm, finger stretches but always wondered how to stretch the tissue between thumb and forefinger. I am 56 years old, yet quite fit but unpleaseantly surprised especially in the last year that everything around my wrists, hands has become tighter, and I have added some stretches to my regular routine. Just for the thumb/forefinger I did not have a good idea. But here we go! I am so grateful for the ever new impulses you provide!

I wasn't particularly excited about this class, but what a surprise! I had several surgeries on my left forearm in my 20s and there is still some atrophy and minor limits to my mobility. This class seemed to be exactly the physical therapy I should have had years ago. Thanks!

This is a wonderfully calm stretching practice in areas that can get neglected, but support us in so much of our practice. Enjoy it!

Your hand and arm stretches are among my favorites, along with hip openers and hamstring stretches, as I think they are often neglected and sooo useful for countering workaday wear and tear. I do think reverse namaste is quite a challenge for those who don't know the trick to getting into the pose...I think there's a video here that explains it nicely, isn't there?

Very easy but hugely benefiting class.
I was able to move well past my usual eagle arms, which is a telling sign for me that the shoulders are loose after the initial prep.

Thank you David.

This class is one that I keep returning to over and over and over again. It brings me huge relief from tension in my neck and upper back, and invites more spaciousness into my chest and heart. A perfect short practice to bring into your day!
