Releasing the muscles of the hands, arms and shoulders is so beneficial for everyone, without exception. In particular, this class is great if you want to help prevent or heal joint problems such as arthritis or carpal tunnel syndrome, improve performance at the office or in your chosen sport, improve posture or just feel better. As David says, the key is understanding alignment and moving in a way that encourages release and allows you to let go of stress.

Revisited this routine after a long time because I am currently on crutches due to a bad ankle sprain that requires me to be non-weight bearing. I sat in a chair in order to keep my ankle in a non-weight bearing position. This routine helped my hands and wrists feel much better! It even got a little into some upper back muscles I didn't realize needed released!
My second time doing this class and it's really great for opening up the tight spots.
Thank you David
great for my shoulders
Wow!! That was tough but certainly loosens everything up. Thank you David
Wow! Very effective, easy (mostly...my tight spots motivate me to come back to this class). Thanks David, and especially for the explanation of which index finger is on the outside. That really helped dyslexic me. Namaste
Very effective. Definitely loosened up my arms, upper back and oft forgotten hands and wrists. Thank you.
Great lesson. Thanks
I enjoyed the specific focus on the arms and hands. It was great for loosening them and my shoulders.
This class helps me after a strenuous dance class, like flamenco, which requires a lot of arm work. Thank you
Undoubtedly one of my most favourite classes EVER! Have had awful pain from my fingers all the way up, past my shoulders into the pecs and mid back on the right side for years... this is the only thing that helps!! I'm unable to do most arm balancing poses that require wrist work because of it. Even binds work on one side only. No docs have been able to figure it out. Thank you David.
Thank you, What an amazing stretch for the arms - fingers in particular... Namaste!
I love your classes, David, though I personally dislike the counts in this video - they keep me in my head rather than my body. Stretching felt great, particularly one finger at a time. Thank You!
Loved the concentration on stretching - especially the hands. I added the left hand stretches (up, down, and side to side) as you did for the right. I have arthritic pain in the left and was looking forward to this. It was not part of the stretching so I added it. Both feel great. I will do some of these stretches at work. Thank you!
I highly recommend this class for climbers! I have been doing it many time after a day of climbing and it helps so much for stretching tight forearms, shoulders, and back...
Thank you so, so, so much for doyogawithme.com and for sharing your caring gifts so thoughtfully and with such kindness, David. Thank you!!
Glad I am doing this challenge....as this is the first class I have done with David after 1.5 years with dywm. Will definitely be back for more, as I love your calm voice, clear cues and gentle pace. Thanks for a great class! Love these challenges!!
Great follow up to yesterday’s practice.
really great class for tight wrists and stiff shoulders! Thank you, David. Namaste!
I love how every instructor on DYWM has their own distinct personality and approach. One of David's strengths is that he often teaches from a PT approach. He's fantastic at giving detailed cues to help you get the most out of his videos while remaining safe. As a bartender and drummer I'm finding this short routine has immeasurable value for my wrists, which I abuse on a daily basis. This video helps me stretch muscles in my hands, arms and shoulders I didn't even KNOW I had which are wayyyyyy too tight. Thanks, David.
Thank-you David, I'm really loving this upper body work. It seems simple but gets at places my desk worn upper back, shoulders, arms and fingers need.
love any shoulder and arm opening exercises!
I just want to say thank you so very much!
Great practice for the areas listed. Super helpful cues throughout
So good for hands!
Good way to start the day.
How I needed that after the week of work.
Thank you.
Great stretches for the hands, arms, and shoulders! I appreciate the wrist circles, too. I want to do these stretches more often to keep the areas flexible.
Excellent class. My hands, arms and shoulders feel more expansive.
A great class.
I had done this before with the Transform Your Life challenge and i loved it just as much the second time! I love how so many classes focus on keeping our bodies healthy and feeling good, not just achieving certain poses.
great class after the previous shoulder building one! Thank you!
Thanks, David. So thorough as usual.
Enjoyed the stretch
Amazing.
So simple,so good
Great practice to start the day
My hands feel amazing!
Wonderful shoulder routine. My husband really could feel it.
Perfect class for those of us who work at computers
My hands, arms, and shoulders are thanking me for a wonderful stretch. Thank you David!!!!!
Would be good to show what the hands should look like behind back.. Think I was doing it correctly but not sure.
Thank you
Arthritic wrist and thumb joints feeling MUCH better the more we work through these exercises. David makes them very clear and easy to understand.
I like these stretches
What a Wonderful class for reinvigorating the arms! Thank you!
I really like this class, doing hands arms & shoulders feels great.
Great class for stretching my hands and shoulders. Thank you
Haha, have to remember to move my lower body a bit since one foot fell asleep!
Good shoulder and hand stretches but hard on my upper middle back to sit in one place that long on the floor.
Feet fell asleep while I was doing this. LOL
This is an excellent class for me. I am tightening up at 63 and I need this so it will be repeated again. Thank you
