Hatha Yoga for Beginners: Foundation

Beginner II

Melissa helps you understand the concept of foundation in this hatha yoga beginner's class, by connecting you with your breath and moving through a flow that includes warrior poses, balancing poses and postures on the floor, such as bridge. It's a nice, slow pace with gentle, encouraging guidance.

Just what I needed after a day of digging/hoeing (trail maintenance). Gentle pace, soothing instructions, just enough movement to stretch me out. Great for restoring me

After two weeks with no yoga, I got a good reminder of what yoga does for me with this class. The teacher's confident and kind voice gave clear instructions. Music was good too.

This is a lovely true beginners class. A gentle pace and clear instructions about posture and how to achieve it were so helpful. Frequent reminders to return focus to breathing helped. For several months I've just been doing a mix of internet beginners classes with a group of people from work. I'm ready now to get some good solid instruction and to make a focused effort on developing correct alignment and technique. Some time spent with this class will be a step in the right direction.

Great class that is actually beginner level - simple and slow. A good class for those getting back into exercise or just learning the foundations of yoga, or keen for something easy to access

I had a particularly stressful day, and needed something in the late evening that was calming but wasn't quite bedtime yoga. This practice (and the music that went along with it) was exactly what I needed.

I've had a couple of weeks away from practice, so this eased me back in very gently. The pace of the class was pitched right to really focus on getting into the correct position, without rushing in and out of poses trying to keep up. It also allowed me to hone in on those areas of my body that were pretty creaky and knotty so I now feel very loosened up and ready for the day. Thank you Melissa for another masterclass.

I'm very new to yoga, but I do notice that when I follow instruction fully, and when I take my time, I finish feeling looser and more relaxed than when I started. Following those two rules, without shortcut, is easier now that I'm older. That always surprises me!

Although I've been a member for a few months, only now can I afford to be a monthly donor to this wonderful site. I am so glad as it's given me the chance to experience this soothing and calming class that's a great reminder of how amazing yoga can be even at a basic level....focussed, great timing with no rush from one pose to the next, and so relaxing. Thank you Melissa and everyone at do yoga with me! :)
