In this hatha yoga class with Rachel, we will explore the key actions necessary to practice standing postures safely and effectively. We will explore the actions of the hips in foundational poses such as warrior II so that you can learn to do these poses optimally for your own body. Note: We recommend using a block for this practice.
This can either be done as a stand-alone class or as Day 3 of Grounding and Strength 14-Day Beginner Yoga Challenge.

Really enjoyed this class great instruction
Really enjoyed this class great instruction
Awesome lesson! I understand more about how to move my body and muscles into these poses to achieve the maximum benefit. Plus, it felt great!!! Thank you! (awareness and movement of thigh muscles and pelvis into the side bend pose from warrior 2 , must take some practice with the brain learning what's going on! )
fantastic instruction on proper foundation poses....we love you Rachel!!!!
Great class for returning from rotator cuff surgery. Thanks and Namaste!
Great class for returning from rotator cuff surgery. Thanks and Namaste!
What a solid class. Thank you! Always nice to revisit the foundational poses.
Great class, great instruction. It was wonderful to get back to the fundamentals and work on some habits I may have developed during the years. Wondering, do you teach all the classes in the Grounding and Strength 14-day Beginner Yoga Challenge and what is the average length of each class? Thanks for your help with this.
This class was great. thank you so much. I think I should do it from time to time to keep remembring the fundmentals. I appreciate the clear instructions with the firm voice.
What a great class. Lots of clear, detailed instructions without going too slowly to be interesting.
So glad you enjoyed it!:)
I got a lot out of this class. The detailed instructions to ensure the body was in alig6snd the right muscles were being activated, were just great. A good workout for my thighs! Thanks so much for the class Rachel.
You're so welcome!!! I always find that the basics -done well - are also super challenging :)
Very detailed and useful instructions. I am not a beginner either but am doing the 14 day challenge. I did find though that holding the pose as you were explaining used up my leg capacity for the pose so as the lesson went on I listened and prepared to go into the pose but only went into it when you were finished instructing.
Great lesson and love the humour too.
My favorite teacher! I am doing classes at a small studio near me, but the teacher is unable to leave the mat to help with poses. Pandemic rule! So, this is where I go for intensive instruction on correct poses. Thanks so much, Rachel.
Awwwww! That's so nice to hear! I'm so glad that you've been able to continue your practice through these crazy times...I understand: I can't wait to get back to teaching where I can get close to people and touch them again! :)
As always, Rachel, your guided metaphors keep me smiling and feeling accomplished!
Peanut, peanut butter ... and jelly! :)
We seem to loke the same at our lessons with Rachel!!!!145
YAY! :)
I usually do intermediate classes, but really enjoyed these helpful reminders on proper form.
Rachel's classes as always - juicy. I have followed her classes with this specific instructions many times, there is always something new for me to find. Thanks!
Fantastic and helpful instructions through micro adjustments in the standing poses.
I appreciated Rachel's explanations of the basics. I also am not a beginner, but feel it is important to review the fundamentals from time to time. This is part of a perfect Challenge for the first weeks of January 2021.
I love your "Basics" classes, Rachel. Encourages me to work deep and well. (I'm not a beginner.)
Thank you! Wonderful instructions. I was finally able to go a little deeper into Warrior 2; I had no idea my hips/pelvis were so out of alignment. I will use these tips going forward. My body feels great right now!
Love your class and teaching Rachel, very helpful to go back to the basics.
Rachel's instructions are clear. I finished the class feeling energized and better equipped to make the most out of each pose. I learned a little tweak or change of position can make a world of difference.
