Exploring Your Patterns
This practice is two practices in one. The first round is holding each pose for one breath as we move through the sequence and the second round is holding the same poses but for ten breaths each time. We move through the sun salutations slowly, counting the full five breaths for each movement. The challenge in this class is not the poses but rather noticing the mind and our resistance to doing things differently.
This can either be done as a stand-alone class or as Day 9 of Cultivate Your Inner Teacher 14-Day Intermediate Yoga Challenge.

"Resistance is a wonderful teacher." If you think you don't need to slow down and learn where your resistances are in your practice, then you need to take time to do this class. I tend to go full speed all the time - what's next - nailed it and move on- and this class reminded me to breathe, loosen my jaw, let that shoulder slide back and not to rush but feel. Thank you for sharing your teaching gift with us, Jonni-Lyn.
This came at perfect time in the work week and allowed me to slow down, focus on breath and movement. Very welcome in a crazy pace of life and expectations. Thank you Jonni-Lynn for today's practice and guiding questions.
I enjoyed this! I'd never done a repeated sequence quickly and THEN slowly before; usually it's the other way around, slow to start off and then faster the second time. Doing it this way really helped me notice how I sometimes autopilot my way through familiar poses in faster-paced classes, instead of expressing them fully and being present in the moment.
Nice change of pace, thank you! I'm so used to rushing through vinyasa classes so it was nice to slow it down and feel each pose. I tend to avoid slower classes (which probably means I need to do more of them!), but appreciated this when it came up in the 15 day challenge.
