This Hatha/Vinyasa yoga class is a perfect way to prepare the body for deep relaxation and a deep, restful sleep. It begins with 6 minutes of a vinyasa flow, then moves into a sequence of beautifully deep floor poses... twists, bends and deep stretches, encouraging body awareness.

I enjoy this class a lot, but the sequences of poses where one leg is tucked under/behind itself was pretty rough on my knees and left me with some lingering aches the next day. Any suggestions for modifications that are a little gentler on the knees?
I sometimes get the same thing! I just bend only as much as I can to not push it.
Definitely intermediate/advanced but with the right modifications, I found this very effective, satisfying, and relaxing. Thank you!
Loved this class. Thank you
More slow Intermediate level classes like this please. I find it very beneficial to pace ou the fast paced classes with such slow, ye tstrong classes. Thank you, David!
I've been out of practice for awhile and wanted to feel a full body challenge. This class is, as another said, challenging and relaxing. I feel fantastic, thank you so much David!
This class was just perfect. Challenging but relaxing. I feel wonderful. Thank you.
I consider myself quite flexible all things considered, and have seen some tremendous progress through the beginner progressing to intermediate program. I'm just wondering if it's common for larger bodies to struggle with binds as much as I do? I feel like I often have excess flesh in the way of getting fully into a bind (or being able to get into poses like heron pose and being able to keep both sitz bones on the floor), but I'm not sure if it's a flexibility issue or something that will improve as I work toward other body goals.
You're absolutely right. Every body is different and there are many physical restrictions that can prevent people from moving fully into a pose, such as a bigger body, shorter/longer limbs, joint mobility, etc. However, without seeing you in the pose it's difficult to know how much is due to flexibility limits.
I did this evening class in the morning as part of the beginner-to-inter. program. Always enjoy David's pace. The binds are getting there but it will be a while before I can connect my fingers.
Nice delivery, clear instructions. In my view, not recommended for people with tricky knees. I just couldn't safely do some of the floor work, though I don't have trouble with most other yoga poses.
I agree. I missed alternatives for tricky knees or disconfort in the knees during the poses with 1 knee bended.
A very enjoyable class with some great twists and hamstring stretches. David's voice is slow and sure and his cues keep coming without a pause which I liked. It did seem like a good evening class but could be any time.
My one quibble was the music which was loud compared to David's voice and also distracting since it didn't match any of our movements. It would be great if you could have a no music option.
The class though is excellent and I recommend it.
Thank you,
James
I loved the challenge, tempo, organization, flow and music of this class. Thank you.
Hi david
I thought this class was really hard even at an intermediate level. Having easier options to do to work your way towards the more in depth poses, I had to stop and miss them all out and just stretch. I loved the warm up though. Thank you.
I've been doing your classes for around 1.5 years now as a complete beginner to yoga, and attempted this class before reading the comments and not realizing it was an Intermediate II class. (I was looking to progress a little more and had saved it as a class to attempt!) . Even though I could only do about 1/3 of the positions, I'm glad I gave it a go because I enjoyed the the sequence and just stayed in whatever part of a position I could, noticing where I was limited in my body. It reminded me that I should revist your marichyasana I and II because I think they will probably help. I remember that I tried those classes quite a few times and each time noticed an increase in my flexibility. Thank you for providing these wonderful classes. I really appreciate the care that goes into making them available to beginners such as myself.
This is one of my favorite classes; there is something in it for everybody! I do find some of the binds difficult; I just use a strap. Thank you David for this class!
I agree with the precedent comments saying it should be considered an intermediate II or even intermediate III class. I've been practising yoga for 6 years or so and I usually can integrate binds in my practice but it wasn't really available to me here. I think the pacing was a bit quick to get in and out of poses that can be difficult to achieve. In your other videos you usually offer different options for a pose, offering to use the help of a strap for example, and that would make this class more accessible. I've also had some knee pain in the poses where we put our foot next to the hip for a long time, but that's something I struggle with in other classes as well (and I should look into it because I may not be doing it correctly, since in Hero pose I don't have pain in my knee).
Thanks! I've moved it up to Intermediate II for now. I appreciate the feedback.
In reference to the last comment... I would say it's harder than I expected in the beginner transitioning to intermediate program. Having done about 2 yrs of beginners consistently I have learned a lot of the tricks to working into harder poses... maybe recommend a strap with this one? But some of the binds (I am an extremely inflexible human) I just had to skip for now, didn't see any way to work into them.
Thank you for classes and for curating programs.
Ok, thanks. It's great to have your comment here in case others feel they need to choose a different class for that program. I thought it might work considering it was shortly after a challenging class with Fiji.
Yes exactly what is said here! I wasn't able to articulate it as well.
Hi david, this didn't feel like an intermediate I class. Is there an easier version with the same poses that can be made so that we can eventually get into the advanced level twists here?
Do you mean that it's more difficult or easier than intermediate I?
I thought it was more difficult than Intermediate I, specially because there weren't variations to simplify it for people who couldn't reach the fullest expressions of the poses (as shown by you!). I really liked the poses themselves but was wondering if there is a way to build upto them.
Thanks, KGP. I understand now. I think I'll leave it as Intermediate I for now and we receive more requests for a level change I can do that. Your comment will likely help people understand the class better before they do it!
Take care,
David
Thank you so much David!!!! This is an amazing work!
Loved still / again this 'classic' (from the early days - what year was it created?) with David's super bendy modelling & smooth calm voice-over instructions for stretching in a really good sequence, perfectly blended with Scott's flute.
I love it too!
