The idea is to keep the breath going, slow and deep, throughout your entire practice... unless you're doing a breathing technique where you hold the breath. This keeps the body highly oxygenated, the nervous system calm and the body relatively relaxed, even when you're doing difficult poses.

hi, I am new to yoga, as I understand breathing is essential in yoga but is breathing in and out strict in every pose and when can we hold the pose and thus do the deep breathing while at it...greetings from South Europe) ) )
