Ashtanga Yoga Therapeutic Sequence

Beginner II
This ashtanga yoga class with Jeff is a slower flow with more attention to poses that are therapeutic and nourishing. It's a great class if you are new to ashtanga yoga or you are looking for a more gentle vinyasa yoga class.

Thank you so much for taking the pressure off. I have done this routine for five days and feel better already. I really appreciate hearing "it doesn't matter". Key words to a type A performer.

This is really interesting. Don't be fooled by the "nothing new under the sun" feeling you may have while doing this class; if you are anything like me, the fascinating stuff comes right after it: a pleasantly unfamiliar state of relaxation that keeps on unfolding for quite some time . Thanks! I'll be coming back.

This was the perfect class for restarting my practice after being cleared for exercise after surgery; I really like Jeff's approach to Ashtanga in the other classes on DYWM. It can be hard for me to take it easy as my body realigns. But this class felt just right. Thank you.

What a great class! I got about halfway through the hard core complete Ashtanga class and decided I needed to slow down! This was great! I will look forward to doing many more of your classes, and eventually be able to do the complete series! (well, whatever these old bones can handle!) Namaste Jeff!

I don’t know much about ashtanga, but needed a short class. I really liked this. A great wake-up practice to start my day. DYWM is so valuable during the pandemic! I would like to see more classes from Jeff.

Thank you, Jeff. I had a near death experience / emergency about 2-2.5 weeks ago. I am still recovering and needed my "yoga" fix.
I felt this would be a good, therapeutic practice. It was. Short but gave my body some much needed, gentle movement.

Jeff is an excellent teacher/guide for practices.

that is like a magic above all yoga practices i guess, even you suspect that it is ashtanga: ) at the bridge pose , i even did very little, my back had hurt. so every move is for three : is it a rule in ashtanga in general? or the paces? very much thank you to bring to world with these issues. it is a pure remedy i think.

I found this class very calming. However, since I am totally unfamiliar with this type of yoga, I found myself having to constantly twist and look at the screen to see what he was doing. Wish I new more about this style of yoga.

I took a Hatha yoga class many years ago (20+ or more) and am trying to get into some sort of regular yoga practice to relieve stress/tension. This was a great balance of gentleness and use of muscles in a mild strength-building way (the bridge and lifting butt of ground while seated cross-legged). Thank you so much for this! I will repeat this for a while until I feel ready to go further.

Very relaxing, good one to do after a days work. I enjoyed the silence i.e. no music. Thank you

Doing this class was wonderful, but I wish there was a 90 minute version of this with all the forward bends, basic standing postures, floor work, core, backbends, and inversions.

That would be brilliant!

Namaste from Ireland.

I have a congenital back issue, and this was a great way to get in my daily practice even when my back was not being cooperative.
Thanks for understanding that some days all we can give is 20 minutes.

I practiced Ashtanga yoga for a couple of years a long time ago and have had a hard time getting back into it. This video is perfect for getting back into yoga in general and eventually build my Ashtanga practice back up. Thank you!

Today I knew I needed to move but was feeling so tired. This practiced showed up in the 20 minutes search of classes. Once I began I was wanting more! This woke me and centered me. Thank you, the class was a blessing.

... even for experienced/intermediate yogis. I practice almost daily and I found that this morning I did not feel like going to my mat. Very tired, very lethargic, and experiencing some discomfort due to my cycle. This practice was exactly what I needed to get moving and too feel a little bit more energized to face my day. Much gratitude, Jeff. Thank you for sharing.
